Custom Ceramic Tile
Artisan Made Tile
What started as a love of process and experimentation creating wood-fired ceramics led to the development of an innovative, individual method of crafting handmade ceramic tile. The purpose is to produce high quality, small batch tiles for installation, sharing functional art that people can enjoy in their
own homes in their daily lives. Through extensive research and testing I have developed a unique process for producing tile that involves hand built tools and is hands on from start to finish. This means that I can truly value the craft and have artistic care evident through every step of the tile creation. I am
placing an emphasis on exploring local materials for glazes. Montana has a rich history with clay and ceramics, and I want to honor the unique geology of the region and the artistic craft it has inspired. I also take inspiration from architecture and high art to envision original interior spaces built with my tile that
echo the colors and textures of Montana landscapes. Throughout my process I stay true to the handmade aspect of ceramic arts, bringing an artist’s eye to pieces that will live permanently in spaces and inspire people to observe details, colors, and textures in both natural and interior environments.

Clay works by Christopher Bieniek
My ceramic work is rooted in ritual and the harmony of process. From preparing tools and materials to firing the kiln, every step demands meticulous attention and builds on the last, creating a seamless rhythm of creation. I primarily use wood firing, a technique that transforms each piece with layers of ash and atmosphere, adding dazzling depth and texture. Throughout the eighteen-hour firing, I respond to the kiln's "breath," much like I adapt to the clay's reactions as I shape, slip, and glaze. The process mirrors my passion for exploring the mountains—layering details, embracing unpredictability, and finding beauty in every phase. From the clay's body to the surface's peaks and valleys, I strive to create tiles that invite discovery and inspire connection.
